Kings' Ty Lawson: Does not get start Tuesday

Lawson (personal) managed five points (1-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, four assists, and three steals over 24 minutes in Tuesday's preseason loss to the Clippers.

Analysis:

Lawson has been on thin ice with management throughout his short tenure with the Kings. He was absent for a mandatory shootaround earlier in the preseason and missed last Saturday's game with an unexcused absence. The 28-year-old had been in line to start the first eight games of the regular season in place of Darren Collison (suspension), but was forced to come off the bench in this game, as Ben McLemore and Garrett Temple were given the starting nod. It's worth keeping an eye on whether this was a temporary punishment or a more permanent demotion.
