Knicks' Derrick Rose: Not expected to play Thursday

Rose (personal) isn't expected to play in the Knicks' final two preseason games Wednesday against the Celtics and Thursday against the Nets, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.

Analysis:

Rose remains away from the team while awaiting the verdict in his civil trial in Los Angeles, and coach Jeff Hornacek said the team isn't preparing to have the point guard available as the team wraps up its preseason schedule. Hornacek cited conditioning as a concern for Rose, as well as the psychological impact of the trial, but the team is still expecting him to resume working out in New York on Friday. Brandon Jennings figures to make two more starts in place of Rose, but assuming there's no significant delay in the conclusion of the trial, Rose should be ready to reclaim his spot on the top unit for the Oct. 25 regular-season opener against the Cavaliers.
