Marc Gasol diagnosed with bone bruise in right foot

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right foot, forcing him out of the team's preseason finale on Wednesday, head coach David Fizdale told reporters.

While it's not the same foot that forced him to miss the final 30 games of the 2015-16 campaign, the injury remains a cause for concern given Gasol's history.

Gasol suffered the injury during Saturday's preseason contest against the Houston Rockets. It was originally diagnosed as a sprained ankle.

The 32-year-old told reporters following the game that fans had nothing to worry about, and appears optimistic that he'll be healthy when the Grizzlies open their season next week.

Gasol averaged 16.6 points, seven rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 blocks, and one steal in 52 games with Memphis last season.
