Jazz's Derrick Favors: Will not play Monday

Favors (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's preseason game against the Clippers, Jody Genessy of Deseret News reports.

Analysis:

Favors missed practice Sunday and didn't take part in shootaround Monday, as the team continues to act cautiously with their starting power forward. It doesn't sound like Favors is in jeopardy of missing the Jazz's Oct. 25 regular-season opener, but for as he's out, Trey Lyles and Boris Diaw should benefit from additional court time.
