Nuggets' Gary Harris: Resumes shooting drills Thursday

Harris (groin) was able to resume shooting on the court Thursday, Christopher Dempsey of The Denver Post reports. "That was the most I've done in a while," Harris said. "Really haven't tried anything [until today]. Just tried to be cautious with [the groin injury], make sure everything is cool. Don't want to reaggravate it and make sure I'm feeling nothing when I'm doing things."

Analysis:

After he was diagnosed with a partially torn right groin muscle on Oct. 5, the Nuggets outlined a three-to-four week recovery timetable for Harris, which would put his projected return date right around the Nuggets' Oct. 26 opener against the Pelicans. It sounds like he's mostly progressing as the Nuggets have expected, but Harris himself isn't setting the season opener as a target return date and is focusing on easing his way back to full health. Will Barton has been serving as the Nuggets' starting shooting guard in the preseason while Harris has been sidelined, and rookie Jamal Murray has also be a factor at the position as the team's first guard off the bench.
