Mavericks' Devin Harris: Strong showing off bench Friday

Harris registered 11 points (3-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two blocks over 16 minutes in Friday's 112-107 preseason loss to the Suns.

Analysis:

The veteran guard was only playing in his second preseason game after offseason toe and thumb surgeries. Harris slots in on the depth chart at both backcourt spots and should be able to garner some minutes at point guard in particular, where he sits behind Deron Williams and J.J. Barea. With Williams of advanced age and coming off sports hernia surgery, Harris could approximate the 20.0 minutes per game he saw last season, as he's tallied at least that amount of playing time in each of his three Mavs campaigns.
