Kings' Ty Lawson: Held out Thursday in coach's decision

Lawson (coach's decision) didn't play in Thursday's 116-104 preseason win over the Lakers.

Analysis:

It appears that Lawson, who is expected to open the season as the starting point guard while Darren Collison serves an eight-game suspension, was just given the night off for rest, as coach Dave Joerger also sat out four more key rotation players in DeMarcus Cousins, Omri Casspi, Matt Barnes and Garrett Temple. By resting Lawson, Joerger was able to get a longer look at Jordan Farmar, the likely backup at point guard during Collison's absence.
