Trail Blazers' Ed Davis: Double-digit boards off bench Thursday

Davis compiled eight points (4-6 FG) and 11 rebounds over 26 minutes in Thursday's 109-108 preseason loss to the Clippers.

Analysis:

Davis had been quiet over the first two exhibition contests he'd played in, but was a force on the boards in what was by far his highest allotment of playing time to date in preseason. Although he slots behind the floor-stretching Meyers Leonard and offseason acquistion Festus Ezeli as the third-string option at power forward and center, respectively, Davis did manage to generate a career-best 61 percent shooting percentage and the second-best rebounding total (7.4) of his career over 81 games last season, his first in Portland. Davis has the ability to offer serviceable production once again if he can approximate the 20.8 minutes per game he averaged in 2015-16, particularly with his rebounding proficiency.
