Paul Pierce will end his illustrious career where it all began.

The 38-year-old swingman, who currently plays for the Los Angeles Clippers, announced Wednesday his intention to retire as a member of the Boston Celtics.

The Truth said on SiriusXM NBA Radio that he plans to sign a one-day contract in Beantown before officially retiring.

Pierce became synonymous with the Celtics not long after he was drafted 10th overall by Boston in 1998. In 15 years with the franchise, he made 10 All-Star appearances and four All-NBA teams. He led the team to a title in 2008 and was named Finals MVP.

He was traded to the Brooklyn Nets ahead of 2013-14 and spent a season there before stints with the Washington Wizards and Clippers.

The future Hall of Famer had already announced he'll hang up his sneakers after this year. Pierce sits fourth in 3-pointers, eighth in free throws, and 16th in points on the NBA's all-time leaderboards.
