Russell contributed 12 points (6-21 FG, 0-9 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist across 35 minutes in Tuesday's 109-106 preseason loss to the Trail Blazers.

Analysis:

Russell, who also picked up five fouls in the game, was undeniably awful Tuesday, but the huge volume of shots he received shouldn't be overlooked. It signifies that Russell has a green light to keep chucking even on nights when his shot isn't falling, a dramatic departure from his rookie season, when coach Byron Scott would exercise far less patience. Russell's percentages from the field and three-point land often won't be pretty, but he'll typically atone for it with the ample numbers he offers across the board. He still looks like an attractive mid-round pick in most fantasy formats.
