Report: Lin was 'intrigued' by Pelicans before signing with Nets

A union of Lin-Sanity and The Brow nearly came to fruition over the offseason.

Prior to inking a three-year, $36-million contract with the Brooklyn Nets, point guard Jeremy Lin was "highly intrigued" by potentially joining the New Orleans Pelicans and playing alongside All-Star Anthony Davis, sources told ESPN's Mike Mazzeo.

Having Alvin Gentry as a head coach and working in a high-octane offense that moved the basketball and pushed the tempo were also huge selling points that nearly won Lin over in the end.

Ultimately, though, Lin took his talents to the Nets organization, who reportedly treated him like a top priority in negotiations and paid him more money.

The Pelicans could have certainly used a player of Lin's ability for their 2016-17 campaign, especially now that Jrue Holiday has been ruled out indefinitely as he tends to his wife who's not only undergoing brain surgery, but will be having the couple's first child.

Lin, however, feels he made the right decision.

"This is where I want to be," said Lin of his new surroundings. "I feel this is the best place for me to become the player I think I can become. I want to see how good I can become and be a big part of an organization, and that's what they gave me here."

Lin averaged 11.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and three assists in 78 appearances in his one and only year with the Charlotte Hornets last season.
