Mavs' Bogut chimes in on election: 'You guys are in some trouble'

New Dallas Mavericks center Andrew Bogut can't vote in next month's presidential election because he's an Australian citizen. And despite his general interest in the unprecedented rancor of the campaign, he's not a fan of either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump anyways.

"You always want people to vote, but they're both shithouse," Bogut told reporters, using a term he had to clarify later. "You guys are in some trouble, to put it quite frankly."

Bogut, 31, has been following the train-wreck qualities of the 2016 electoral cycle and has frequently tweeted on the matter - as he did during Sunday night's debate, joining a bevy of other athletes.

While he stressed that he is not a Trump supporter, Bogut doesn't see Clinton as a decent alternative.

"Getting funding from countries that have charity law - I think that's a bigger issue than what an old dirty man said 10 years ago," the 7-foot center said. "But I don't have a horse in the race, I don't really care."

When asked if true "locker room talk" (as Trump referred to a sexually vulgar 2005 recording of himself in the debate) consists of such crass language, Bogut said not quite - although he added that people should look inward before attacking Trump for off-the-record comments.

"If we're being honest, I wouldn't say to that level, but guys talk about pretty girls every now and then in the locker room," the former Golden State Warrior said. "Look, what he said was terrible, but think about the worst thing you've said in your life. I'm not defending what he said by any means, but I think we have to look at ourselves too ... I think you're lying if you've never said anything controversial about anything."
