Cavaliers' Iman Shumpert: Gets second straight start at shooting guard

Shumpert started and produced seven points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt), three rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 17 minutes in Saturday's 108-105 preseason win over the 76ers.

Analysis:

Shumpert has started at shooting guard in both of the Cavs' preseason games, so he's presumably the leading candidate to hold those duties if J.R. Smith remains unsigned when the regular season begins. Few other teams would have the available cap space needed to sign Smith, so it's expected that the swingman will eventually return to the Cavs when everything is said and done. Even if the impasse between the two sides lingers longer than anticipated, Shumpert will be hard pressed to deliver much fantasy value in a starting role, as he'll frequently rank as the Cavs' fourth or fifth option whenever he's on the court. In addition, he'll split time at the position with the likes of Mike Dunleavy and perhaps Jordan McRae.
