Jazz's Gordon Hayward: Out six weeks with broken finger

Updating a previous report, Hayward both dislocated and fractured a finger on his left hand and is expected to be sidelined for six weeks, Jody Genessy of Deseret News reports.

Analysis:

Original reports stated that Hayward had just dislocated a finger, but with word surfacing that he also broke the digit, he'll be looking at a longer timetable than initially anticipated. That six-week recovery period will likely keep Hayward sidelined through mid-to-late November, meaning he could miss at least 10 regular season contests. The Jazz will reevaluate Hayward in three weeks and could pinpoint a more exact return date for him at that time, but for now, it looks as though the team will have to cast their lot with Joe Johnson as their starting small forward. Joe Ingles would also benefit from more minutes, while starting point guard George Hill could also move over to the wing more frequently to help cover for Hayward's absence.
