Celtics' Gerald Green: Expected to play against Hornets

Green (hip) practiced Friday and is expected to play Saturday against the Hornets, Scott Souza of the Providence Journal reports.

Analysis:

A hip flexor injury has kept Green from playing in the first two preseason games, but he should get the opportunity to return to the court Saturday. The veteran swingman is believed to be competing for one of two roster spots with the likes of R.J. Hunter, Ben Bentil and James Young, and should be viewed as a frontrunner to claim one of those vacancies. However, he'll need to play well in the preseason in order to stave off his competitors.
