Nets' Brook Lopez: Modest showing in preseason opener

Lopez provided eight points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and two rebounds across 13 minutes in Thursday's 101-94 preseason victory over the Pistons.

Analysis:

As was the plan, the big man saw only a modest amount of minutes in the preseason opener. Lopez should once again be in line for another high-usage role on a talent-deprived Nets squad and may have even more scoring responsibility on his shoulders in 2016-17 following the offseason departure of Thaddeus Young. With that in mind, a repeat or improvement of the averages of 20.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game that Lopez offered in 2015-16 is certainly conceivable.
