Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki: Ruled out for Saturday

Nowitzki (rest) won't play in Saturday's preseason matchup with the Bucks, but hopes to return to the court at some point next week, Eddie Sefko of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis:

Nowitzki has already sat out of the team's first two preseason games, as the Mavericks want to limit the 38-year-old's workload prior to the season. He'll sit out again Saturday, but hopes to make his preseason debut at some point next week, although he'll still likely be on a minutes restriction. While Nowitzki is out, Dwight Powell and Quincy Acy will likely see additional minutes in the frontcourt.
