Lakers' Jordan Clarkson: Solid off bench in preseason opener

Clarkson totaled 12 points (4-9 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), six rebounds, an assist and a steal across 20 minutes in Tuesday's 103-84 preseason victory over the Kings.

Analysis:

Though he's projected to start at shooting guard this season, Clarkson came off the bench for the exhibition contest, but played only a minute less than starter Lou Williams. Coach Luke Walton termed the lineup switch as an experiment, but Clarkson excelled in his role as the club's sixth man Tuesday, providing strong production on a per-minute basis. Clarkson will look to build on a 2015-16 campaign in which he averaged career highs in points, rebounds, steals and minutes and should form an exciting young backcourt with second-year point guard D'Angelo Russell.
