Carlos Boozer turned down 2 workouts with Spurs before signing in China

Carlos Boozer was hoping for an and-1 when it came to a last year in the NBA, and the San Antonio Spurs were willing to give him a shot.

But before making the addition, San Antonio wanted the veteran power forward to give them an audition, a request Boozer twice denied this summer.

From ESPN's Jackie MacMullan:

Power forward Carlos Boozer didn't play in the NBA last season but contacted the Spurs last spring and told them he wanted back in. (R.C.) Buford suggested he play in San Antonio's June minicamp, but Boozer declined. "Then he was going to come for a piece of our summer league, but then he said, 'Nah, I'm not going to do that, either,'" Buford says. "So we moved on. How can we evaluate him if he's not playing?"

Given that Boozer spent last season away from the court, the Spurs simply wanted a closer look at the former All-Star. Most teams across the league would do the same as San Antonio if they were to consider adding the 34-year-old.

Boozer eventually signed with the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association.
