Wizards' John Wall: Increases practice participation

Wall (knee) participated in five-on-five play for the first time during training camp Monday, but won't play in Tuesday's preseason matchup against the Heat, Candace Buckner of The Washington Post reports.

Analysis:

Wall opened training camp as a limited participant after undergoing procedures on both of his knees during the offseason, but he seems to be inching closer to full strength. He took a step forward in the recovery process Monday by scrimmaging for about 15 minutes. Though he'll be held out of the preseason opener and could miss a few more exhibition contests for precautionary purposes, it seems as though Wall is trending toward availability for the start of the regular season. While the limited practice time he's seen thus far could result in getting off to a slow start to the season, the 26-year-old shouldn't notice a significant decline from the career-best numbers he provided in 2015-16.
