Wizards' Ian Mahinmi: Skips scrimmage Saturday

Mahinmi (knee) sat out the Wizards' five-on-five scrimmage Saturday, J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.

Analysis:

The Wizards are still limiting Mahinmi's on-court activity after he banged his knee a few days earlier, but the injury isn't anything that's expected to impact his availability for the start of the season. In fact, it's possible that Mahinmi could be cleared for full activity within the coming days and take part in preseason play. After serving as the starting center for the Pacers last season and averaging a career-high 9.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, Mahinmi is slated to see his role decline while assuming a backup role in Washington behind starter Marcin Gortat.
