Several Mavericks won't travel for preseason opener

The Dallas Mavericks will be without several core players as they make the trip to Louisiana for an Oct. 1 preseason matchup with the Pelicans.
Dirk Nowitzki, Wesley Matthews, Andrew Bogut, Deron Williams, and Devin Harris won't be in uniform for the preseason opener, head coach Rick Carlisle informed reporters Saturday.
The aforementioned names will remain at the Mavericks' facility in the Lone Star State and continue training.
Dallas will play its first preseason home game Oct. 3 against the Charlotte Hornets. Their regular season gets underway Oct. 26 on the road versus the Indiana Pacers.
