Report: Hairston joining Rockets on training camp deal

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

Swingman P.J. Hairston has agreed to a training camp deal with the Houston Rockets, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Houston will possess the 23-year-old's D-League rights (Rio Grande Valley Vipers) should he not crack the 15-man roster.

Hairston was the 26th overall pick of the Miami Heat on behalf of the Charlotte Hornets in the 2014 NBA draft, becoming the first D-League prospect to go in the opening round.

He averaged 6.2 points and 2.6 rebounds on 35.5 percent shooting over 66 total games with both the Hornets and Memphis Grizzlies, who acquired him in a three-team trade prior to February's deadline.
