Different season, more of the same for the Washington Wizards.

Shooting guard Bradley Beal was diagnosed with a mild concussion after catching an elbow to the head from center Ian Mahinmi during Wednesday's practice, Candace Buckner of the Washington Post reports.

Beal didn't attend practice Thursday.

Having signed a five-year, $128-million maximum contract in the summer, the Wizards were counting on the talented 23-year-old to make the leap into becoming an All-Star in his fifth season.

However, recurring injuries to his left leg have been a thorn in Beal's side. The fragile guard made only 55 appearances last season and has played more than 63 games just once in his four seasons. Beal even speculated last season he might have to be on a minutes restriction for the remainder of his career.

Beal averaged 17.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists last season. He's expected to line up alongside John Wall as the starting shooting guard this season.
