Rockets' Sam Dekker: Shows versatility during camp

Dekker has seen time at shooting guard, small forward and power forward throughout training camp, Calvin Watkins of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

Dekker appeared in just three games during his rookie season, with November back surgery followed by subsequent complications making for a de facto redshirt campaign. The former first-round pick was back to full strength for most of the offseason, and he appears to have carried over his promising summer league performance into training camp. Though Dekker has typically only played the two wing spots during his brief time with the Rockets, at 6-foot-9, he probably has enough size to get by at power forward when coach Mike D'Antoni utilizes small-ball lineups. While the positional versatility will help Dekker's case for more playing time, he may find himself out of the rotation when the season begins, as D'Antoni has historically preferred to deploy smaller rotations.
