Jazz's Alec Burks: Expected to take full contact by start of season

Jazz coach Quin Snyder said Tuesday that he expects Burks (knee, ankle) to be ready to take full contact by the start of the season, Andy Larsen of KSL-TV reports. "I would think so, you know?" Snyder said, when asked about Burks' status for the opener. "From what I'm told and what I see, there's good progress, especially in the last week or so. I think it gets to a point where we're going to see it go quicker. But maybe not. I don't know exactly, but that would be my hope."

Analysis:

After injuries sullied his 2015-16 campaign, Burks underwent arthroscopic surgery in June on his left knee and ankle with the expectation that he'd be fully cleared for the start of training camp. However, Burks was limited when camp opened earlier this week and it appears the Jazz are inclined to take it slow with the combo guard as a means of easing him back in. While Burks' situation doesn't sound especially troubling, he may have a tough time reaping fantasy value for his owners as a scoring-dependent player that now finds himself in one of the deepest backcourts in the Western Conference.
