Rockets' Clint Capela: Not guaranteed starting role

Capela will have to fend off Nene Hilario for the Rockets' starting center position during training camp, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Analysis:

With Dwight Howard heading to Atlanta this offseason, Capela was widely viewed as a lock to take over his role as the starting center. However, Nene Hilario was brought in on a one-year contract this offseason, and after drawing rave reviews from coach Mike D'Antoni early in camp, he'll have a chance to stake his claim to a starting gig. While Hilario legitimately has a chance to start, Capela is likely the leader for the role with the preseason approaching. Capela is 12 years younger than Hilario and has a more reliable track record on the health front, so expect him to take the larger portion of minutes in the center timeshare regardless if he starts or comes off the bench.
