76ers' Jahlil Okafor: Knee injury no longer an issue

Okafor said Monday that he's no longer bothered by small meniscus tear in his right knee that sidelined him for much of the second half of last season, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Analysis:

Okafor underwent the season-ending procedure last March, but was able to resume individual workouts in May and took part in non-contact activity during the summer while training with the United States Olympic basketball team. The big man also noted Monday that he shed around 10 pounds this offseason and now checks in around 265 pounds. While all appears sound on the health front for Okafor, it remains to be seen how much he'll be utilized now that Joel Embiid (foot) is set to join him and Nerlens Noel in a crowded rotation at center. Because none of the three players is an ideal fit at power forward, it could result in fewer minutes for all involved, which would be detrimental to Okafor's fantasy value. Look for the 76ers to eventually trade away Okafor or Noel either later this season or next summer, but until that materializes, Okafor could struggle to replicate the strong averages he produced as a rookie.
