Bulls' Thomas Walkup: Inks training camp deal with Chicago

Walkup posted on his personal Instagram account Thursday that he signed a training camp contract with the Bulls.

Analysis:

Walkup gained some national prominence during the NCAA Tournament this past spring as the star player for 14th-seeded Stephen F. Austin, who scored an upset over third-seeded West Virginia in the first round before narrowly losing to Notre Dame in the Round of 32. On the season, Walkup averaged 18.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.1 steals in 30.1 minutes per game, though much of that production came against low-level competition. At 6-foot-5, Walkup doesn't offer great size at either wing spot, and his limitations as a three-point shooter and as an athlete will hurt his chances of cracking the Bulls roster out of camp.
