Warriors' Kevon Looney: Cleared for training camp

Warriors GM Bob Myers said Thursday that Looney (hip) is "good to go" for the start of training camp, Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Analysis:

It was previously reported earlier this month that Looney was on track to return for training camp, so this most recent update only confirms original expectations. He underwent surgery for a torn labrum on his left hip roughly five months ago, but after a full offseason for rest and recovery, Looney is back to full strength. Unfortunately for Looney, he remains on a stacked roster and will have a tough time finding significant minutes in his second NBA season. He'll serve as a deep reserve in the Warriors frontcourt and could see time in the D-League periodically throughout the season.
