Muggsy Bogues supports 'nonviolent protesting' in Charlotte

Protests in Charlotte continued Wednesday night over the police shooting of an unarmed black man named Keith Lamont Scott on Tuesday.

Muggsy Bogues, who spent the majority of his NBA career with the Hornets, still lives in the North Carolina city and sympathizes with the collective outrage.

"People are angry. I understand that," Bogues told CNN's Kate Bolduan.

"Too many things are happening, too many lives are being lost without there being any explanation. I know people have a job to do, but people need transparency. People are really angry. People are tired of our men being gunned down."

One person was shot and four cops were injured during Wednesday's protests, and the Hornets team store was also looted and vandalized.

While the 51-year-old believes things need to change, he doesn't think people should resort to violence.

"There's nothing wrong with nonviolent protesting to let folks know we need a change. And it needs to be done."

Bogues thinks it would help if people came together and talked it out.

"We all just got to sit down and hear one another. We are human beings first. There's no color. We are human beings. When are we going to get back to having human rights being heard, regardless of the color, regardless of industry, regardless of status? We are equal," he added.
