Rockets' Tyler Ennis: Traded to Houston

Ennis was traded to the Rockets on Thursday in exchange for Michael Beasley, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

With Giannis Antetokounmpo expected to play some point guard during the upcoming campaign and the Bucks also counting Michael Carter-Williams and Matthew Dellavedova among their options at the position, Ennis was buried on the depth chart and became expendable, especially with the Bucks possessing a need at forward following the news that Khris Middleton (hamstring) will miss the next six months. Ennis will have a clearer path to playing time in Houston, where Patrick Beverley is entrenched as the starting point guard, but only the 39-year-old Pablo Prigioni and undrafted free agents Gary Payton and Isaiah Taylor are in the mix for reserve roles in the backcourt. At the very least, Ennis should be able to come away with the third-string role at point guard, and could even surpass the aging Prigioni on the depth chart before long. That said, with James Harden possessing one of the league's highest usage rates and often functioning as the team's de facto point guard, Ennis won't have much of an opportunity to post gaudy assist totals even if he finds his way into expanded playing time.
