Report: Timberwolves sign Rasual Butler to non-guaranteed deal

Soobum Im / USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed veteran small forward Rasual Butler to a non-guaranteed deal, sources tell The Vertical's Shams Charania.

Butler played in 46 games for the San Antonio Spurs this past season, averaging 2.7 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.5 assists on 47.1 percent shooting.

The 37-year-old likely won't provide much for Minnesota at this stage in his career, but could be used in a mentorship role for some of the younger Timberwolves.

While Butler's deal is just partially guaranteed, the 13-year veteran has a knack for making the final roster out of camp, having done so with the Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards, and San Antonio over the past three seasons.

Minnesota opens camp next week at Mayo Clinic Square in Minneapolis.
