Grizzlies' Deyonta Davis: Starts training camp as limited participant

Davis (foot) will enter training camp as a limited participant. "I'm feeling great. I'm taking this process one step at a time, trying to rest my foot and I'm looking forward to a great season," Davis said.

Analysis:

After being acquired by the Grizzlies with the first pick of the second round in the 2016 NBA Draft, Davis went on to sit out the entire summer league schedule after suffering from a bout of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. While Davis is expected to participate in the Grizzlies' full-team scrimmage on Oct. 1, it appears the team will otherwise play it safe with the 19-year-old rookie during training camp. Davis' restrictions should be lifted once the regular season begins, but it shouldn't prove consequential in the fantasy realm. Davis finds himself buried on the depth chart and isn't expected to contribute much in his first season in the NBA, making it likely that he'll spend much of the campaign in the D-League.
