Grizzlies' Brandan Wright: Cleared for training camp

Wright (knee) has been fully cleared for the opening of Grizzlies' training camp. "I'm feeling good and trending upward. I'm looking forward to camp and getting ready to go. I'll be on the court for training camp," Wright said. "Obviously with any injury, you don't want to spike too early. We'll work our way into it, but I'll be a full go."

Analysis:

Back in April, Wright indicated he was just weeks away from being 100 percent recovered from a Grade 1 right MCL sprain, so Wednesday's announcement that he's back to full health comes as little surprise. Wright's first season in Memphis was almost completely ruined by injury, with the center playing only 12 games after requiring arthroscopic surgery on the right knee and then suffering the MCL sprain shortly upon returning in February. Now that he's fully healed, Wright should enter the upcoming season as the top backup to Marc Gasol and receive around 16-to-22 minutes per game. That level of playing time won't lend itself to much fantasy value in the early going, but Gasol's own problematic injury history could eventually open up some starting opportunities for Wright.
