Clippers' Xavier Munford: Signs training camp deal with Clippers

Munford signed a training camp contract with the Clippers on Wednesday, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

The 24-year-old point guard out of Rhode Island saw his first career regular season action with the Grizzlies last season, as he signed a pair of 10-day contracts in March before inking a deal for the rest of the season after injuries gutted the team's depth in the backcourt. In his 14 games for the Grizzlies, Munford averaged 5.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.9 steals across 17.4 minutes per contest, but had his player option for 2016-17 declined by the club. Though he'll get an opportunity to fight for a roster spot in training camp with the Clippers, Munford finds himself behind Chris Paul and Austin Rivers on the depth chart at point guard and may ultimately be forced to open the year in the D-League.
