Lakers' Metta World Peace: Re-ups with Lakers

World Peace re-signed Wednesday with the Lakers on a one-year, non-guaranteed contract, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

Earlier this offseason, World Peace indicated he had no intentions of retiring, but it wasn't certain if any NBA teams were interested in bringing him aboard as he enters his age-37 season. After spending the 2014-15 season in the Chinese Basketball Association, World Peace returned stateside to spend 2015-16 with the Lakers, with whom he won an NBA title in 2010. He ended up filling only a minor role off the bench for the team, appearing in 35 games and averaging 5.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists over 16.9 minutes per season. If he's able to break camp with the Lakers this time around, look for World Peace to again function as a deep reserve and veteran voice in a locker room that's now without Kobe Bryant.
