The Los Angeles Lakers have reached an agreement to sign free-agent forward Metta World Peace, the team confirmed.

The deal is unguaranteed, but World Peace will join the team for training camp at the very least, reports Mark Medina of Los Angles Daily News.

World Peace appeared in 35 games for Los Angeles last season, averaging five points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists on 31.1 percent shooting.

While the 36-year-old's numbers were far from impressive, World Peace was one of the few Lakers to post a respectable defensive rating, with Los Angeles surrendering eight points per 100 possessions fewer with him on the court.

With Luol Deng and Brandon Ingram expected to garner the majority of minutes at small forward, World Peace could struggle to see the court under first-year head coach Luke Walton.

World Peace likely won't provide much at this stage in his career, but could help improve the Lakers' depth.
