Training camp is on the horizon, and the jury's still out on whether Kevin Garnett will play for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the upcoming campaign.

A decision is forthcoming, with it expected to be reached as a result of ongoing talks between the 40-year-old big man and team owner Glen Taylor.

"Glen and Kevin and his representatives are in discussions," head coach Tom Thibodeau told Kent Youngblood of the Star Tribune on Wednesday.

"We'll keep that private for now, and we'll see how it unfolds. But, obviously, what Kevin has meant to our league, the organization, he's earned the right to have those discussions with Glen."

The Big Ticket has one year, $8 million remaining on his deal with the Timberwolves.

Garnett spent the first dozen years of his career in Minnesota, where he won his only MVP award. He captured a championship in 2008 as a member of the Boston Celtics.

He returned to the T-Wolves last year to mentor young players like Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, but knee soreness has limited him on the court.

The future Hall of Famer shared a video earlier this month that suggests he's been working out and staying in shape.
