Listen: The Roots snuck an Iverson reference into a Shaq song

Unbeknownst to him, Shaquille O'Neal was the victim of an expert-level troll job by The Roots decades ago.

As longtime collaborator and current Roots member James Poyser explained in an Instagram post, he and drummer Questlove produced a song called "In the Sun" for O'Neal's unreleased 2001 album, Shaquille O'Neal Presents His Superfriends, Vol. 1.

Poyser and Questlove, both 76ers fans, weren't happy about O'Neal's Los Angeles Lakers defeating Philadelphia in the 2001 NBA Finals, and decided to sneak an Allen Iverson reference into the song. O'Neal didn't find out about it until his appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" last week.
