Report: Spurs to sign Joel Anthony to training camp deal

Steve Mitchell / USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs are putting the finishing touches on their training camp roster.

The team is finalizing a training camp deal with free-agent big man Joel Anthony, sources tell Jabari Young of San Antonio Express-News.

The 34-year-old Canadian was waived by the Detroit Pistons earlier this offseason.

He has career averages of 2.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 14.7 minutes per game over nine NBA campaigns split between the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, and the Pistons.

The 6-foot-9 center won two championships in South Beach on the backs of the Big Three of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.

San Antonio's training camp tips off Sept. 27.
