Trail Blazers sign Stiemsma to training camp deal

The Portland Trail Blazers have signed Greg Stiemsma to a training camp deal, president of basketball operations Neil Olshey announced Monday.

The 30-year-old big man didn't play during the 2015-16 NBA regular season, as he was waived by the Orlando Magic a week prior to the start of the campaign. He signed with the team last summer, but was unable to compete during the preseason due to an Achilles tendon strain.

Stiemsma last competed for the Toronto Raptors in 2014-15, averaging 0.8 points and 0.9 rebounds in 17 appearances off the bench.

His strongest run in the league was back in 2012-13 for the Minnesota Timberwolves, when he started 19 games and averaged a career-best four points per contest. He's also played for the New Orleans Pelicans and Boston Celtics.
