Report: 'Growing optimism' Heat will clear Bosh to play on blood thinners

The ongoing saga of whether or not forward Chris Bosh will be medically cleared by the Miami Heat to return to action may be reaching its conclusion.

There is "growing optimism" the organization will allow the 32-year-old to resume his playing career while remaining on blood thinners, a union source told The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.

Bosh's camp originally proposed that he take a new form of blood thinner that would be out of his system within eight hours prior to the start of Miami's postseason run, thus allowing him to take the floor with far less of a risk to his well being. The Heat were reportedly against that idea at first, but have since come around to the regiment.

With that said, Jackson adds that it would be surprising if Bosh weren't cleared within the coming weeks, barring any major setbacks.

A cause for concern, though, would be how many games Bosh could suit up for, and if playing both games on a back-to-back set would be feasible.

Blood clots in his leg and lung have prematurely ended the 11-time All-Star's campaign each of the past two seasons. He posted a series of Snapchat videos at the end of August informing his followers that he's been taking part in drills and practicing his shooting in the meantime.

The loss of Dwyane Wade this summer to the Chicago Bulls makes Bosh's hopeful return to the lineup all the more crucial. He averaged 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and two assists on 49.4 percent shooting prior to his diagnosis.
