Clippers' Paul Pierce: Still on the fence about returning

Pierce is apparently still undecided about returning to the Clippers for the 2016-17 season, ESPN.com's Chris Forsberg reports.

Analysis:

Despite multiple reports earlier in the summer suggesting that the 38-year-old would likely play a 19th season, we've yet to hear an affirmative declaration from Pierce that he'll be back. Coach Doc Rivers said he plans to talk to the veteran later this week, but doesn't expect a formal decision from Pierce until closer to the start of training camp, which begins in late September. Pierce submitted a career-worst season in 2015-16, averaging 6.1 points (on 36.3% shooting from the field), 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 18.1 minutes per game over 68 appearances. Though the Clippers have underwhelming options at small forward, it's uncertain that Pierce would be first in line to start at the position if he were to return for the upcoming season.
