Report: Nuggets sign Robbie Hummel to 2-year deal

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

Forward Robbie Hummel is getting another crack at making an NBA roster after spending last season playing basketball overseas.

The 27-year-old has signed a two-year, partially-guaranteed contract with the Denver Nuggets, according to Purdue (Hummel's alma mater) site GoldandBlack.com.

Hummel was selected 58th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, but didn't play for the team until the following year after signing a one-year deal to compete in Spain.

He made 98 appearances for Minnesota over two seasons in a limited role coming off the bench, averaging 3.9 points and 2.7 rebounds on 41.8 percent shooting. Weeks after his qualifying offer was withdrawn, Hummel inked a one-year contract with Italian club Emporio Armani Milano.

Denver already has 14 guaranteed contracts on its roster, meaning Hummel will have to battle D.J. Kennedy, Axel Toupane, JaKarr Sampson, Nate Wolters, and reigning D-League MVP Jarnell Stokes for the final spot.
