Jazz's Derrick Favors: Could land contract extension

If the Jazz decide to extend anyone's contract, it will most likely be Favors (knee), Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Analysis:

The Jazz recently freed up $12 million in cap space when they traded Tibor Pleiss to the 76ers. Favors, who despite a back injury averaged a career-high 16.4 points, along with 8.1 boards, 1.5 blocks, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, is reportedly first up for an extension along with Gordon Hayward. This contract extension is crucial for the Jazz, who are looking to keep the forward from entering the market at the end of next season. Favors is expected to once again start alongside center Rudy Gobert in 2016-17, but his health is a going concern for fantasy owners.
