Thunder's Joffrey Lauvergne: Traded to Oklahoma City

Lauvergne was traded Tuesday to the Thunder in exchange for two 2017 second-round picks, Chris Dempsey of The Denver Post reports.

Analysis:

The 24-year-old Frenchman appeared in 59 games and made 15 starts for the Nuggets last season, compiling averages of 7.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. While he's a fairly intriguing asset, the Nuggets are already loaded with frontcourt talent in Nikola Jokic, Jusuf Nurkic and Kenneth Faried, so the decision to deal Lauvergne was likely made in order to alleviate what had turned into somewhat of a logjam. Lauvergne will join a Thunder squad that parted ways with Serge Ibaka this summer but added veteran Ersan Ilyasova and rookie Domantas Sabonis to its frontcourt. With Steven Adams firmly entrenched as the starting center, Lauvergne will challenge Ilyasova for the starting role or battle Sabonis and Enes Kanter for minutes off the bench.
