Kings' Darren Collison: Court date pushed back to Aug. 18

Collison's pending case for two misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and domestic battery will be heard in court Aug. 18, James Ham of CSN Bay Area reports.

Analysis:

Once the case gets underway, it's unclear how quickly the court will reach a resolution, thereby making it uncertain if or when the NBA will suspend Collison for his involvement in the incident, which occurred back on May 30. Despite his brush with the law, Collison is set to enter the upcoming season as the Kings' starting point guard after the organization let Rajon Rondo leave for the Bulls in free agency. Collison was effective in a sixth man role last season with averages of 14.0 points, 4.3 assists, 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 three-pointers and 1.0 steal in 30.0 minutes per game, and the prospect of a full-time starting role in 2016-17 will likely allow him to raise his numbers across the board.
