Spike Lee is trying to recruit Ray Allen to the Knicks

David Richard / USA TODAY Sports

Ray Allen gave hope to a couple of his former stomping grounds in Boston and Milwaukee when discussing a potential NBA return on Saturday, but what about the basketball mecca?

"Spike Lee has been trying to recruit me," Allen said of the New York Knicks to the Hartford Courant's Don Amore. "We've been texting."

Perhaps part of the allure for the Knicks' superfan is that Allen is the man who overcame arch-nemesis Reggie Miller's all-time 3-point record.

Allen, who hasn't stepped foot on an NBA court in more than two years, spent time with the Bucks, Celtics, Heat, and SuperSonics over an 18-year career that may still have some life left in it.

The Knicks have already had an eventful enough off-season, acquiring Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Courtney Lee, among others.
