Report: Damjan Rudez agrees to deal with Magic

Brad Mills / USA TODAY Sports

In case the Orlando Magic didn't add enough frontcourt depth this offseason, the team has reportedly reached an agreement with free-agent forward Damjan Rudez.

Rudez, who had his 2016-17 option declined by the Minnesota Timberwolves in June, has a deal in place with the Magic for next season, sources told Nikos Varlas of Eurohoops.

The deal is expected to be made official in the coming days.

Rudez played just 33 games for the Wolves after being acquired from the Indiana Pacers last summer, averaging 2.3 points and 0.6 rebounds in 8.4 minutes.

The 6-foot-10 Croatian came into the NBA with a reputation as a sharpshooting stretch-four, having been one of the top 3-point shooters in the Spanish ACB League before the Pacers signed him in 2014. He hit 40.6 percent of his threes with the Pacers in 2014-15, but hit just 34 percent for Minnesota, not enough to offset his lack of rebounding, playmaking, and defensive abilities.
